![]() Collect these and your overdrive meter charges up. As you destroy each alien craft, what can be described as small green pellets are left behind. RESOGUN PS4 GAMEPLAY UPDATEA new element is introduced here as they can now be used to destroy advancing enemy craft simply by flying into them at high speed and as you can change direction in mid-boost it’s possible to annihilate vast waves of aliens with a single boost! The final main update on the weapons front is the Overdrive mode. ![]() The thrust and bombs are still there but the boosters are limited and need recharging between use. The left stick controls movement and the right stick controls firing making for incredibly precise action and although in principle this should make the game easier than Defender it doesn’t, it just refines the gameplay and makes it far more responsive. Moving on from the basics, the game builds on the Defender theme by adopting a twin-stick approach for the control of your fighter. Resogun expands on this adding weapon upgrades, a wide range of aliens intent on wiping out you and the humans under your protection, vast end-of-level bosses, all wrapped up with stunning 3D visuals and breathtaking explosions and visual effects. The core gameplay remains the same – flying over an alien landscape protecting humans from attack and being kidnapped in your trusty fighter using the weapons at your disposal, aided by a limited supply of smart bombs to get you out of trouble when things get a little too intense coupled with a booster to move you around the landscape in short bursts and to avoid danger. At it’s heart, Resogun is an update of the Williams arcade classic Defender albeit a lot prettier. Resogun itself, as with most games from Housemarque, isn’t entirely an original concept. With the coding duties being handed over to Climax Studios, who previously produced Smart As… and handled the Vita port of the aforementioned Dead Nation, the question remained whether Resogun would work on the PS Vita… With it’s particle-intensive effects people wondered just how the Vita was going to cope. ![]() With their pedigree it’s no wonder that Resogun was going to be an instant classic – Housemarque was formed out of two hardened Amiga development studios known for pushing the hardware and getting the most out of the system (Terramarque and Bloodhouse) so it was only natural that their natural talent continued onto current gen systems.ĭespite the PS Vita having a stunning version of Super Stardust and Dead Nation, there were doubts when it was announced that we were going to be treated to a port of Resogun. RESOGUN PS4 GAMEPLAY SERIESWhile many have been disappointed at the early wave of games to have been released, one title that didn’t disappoint was Resogun – the latest shooter from Housemarque, developers of the Super Stardust series and Dead Nation. We’ll just have to wait and see what the developer has in store for the future. When it was first unveiled to the public, the PS4 made a lot of promises to gamers, leading us to believe that we were going to witness a new era of gaming. ![]() Though this is unfortunate news for fans of arcade shooters, the developer’s departure from the genre is indicative of where the market may be headed given EA’s recent closure of Visceral Games and their refocusing of a narrative-driven Star Wars game. The studio directly states later that “it is time to bring our longstanding commitment to the arcade genre to an end.” That being said, Housemarque did offer that its next projects will be “totally different” from what fans are used to and that while they won’t be in the vein of arcade games, gameplay will be prioritized above all other factors. But now it’s time to move on to new genres.” ![]() For your unfailing love and support we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. “We are extremely grateful to our fans and partners, who have enabled us to work on awesome games like Super Stardust HD and Outland. RESOGUN PS4 GAMEPLAY FREEWhile some of them have reached a massive audience due to free game offerings across various digital sales channels, this unfortunately doesn’t help pay for development, which gets costly for high production quality,” the developer wrote. “Despite critical success and numerous awards, our games just haven’t sold in significant numbers. Housemarque, known for current generation arcade titles like Resogun, Nex Machina, and Matterfall, has announced today via an open letter that it will no longer make games for the genre, citing a lack of sales as the studio’s primary reason for the transition. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() High-end models tend to sound realistic, especially when coupled with good preamps and expanded upon in dual-systems that employ mics. Some of those early pickups sounded bad, but piezo pickup technology has grown by leaps and bounds, and these days even a relatively cheap undersaddle pickup can sound decent. Piezo technology wasn’t harnessed and applied to the acoustic guitar widely until the 1970s. Piezo pickups sound thin and tinny plugged into an electric-guitar rig because the amp isn’t designed to handle its full-frequency range. because of its full-frequency range and appropriate level. The transducer is most commonly a strip that’s placed under the saddle, which is ideal for capturing the sound of all the strings transmitting vibrations into the bridge, which is set in the soundboard, allowing a portion of those vibrations to transmit as well.įishman AG-Series passive undersaddle pickup (Image credit: Fishman)Īll that information shooting into the bridge location yields a bright, forthright tone with a fast, in-your-face attack known to acoustic guitarists as the infamous piezo “quack.” The sound is exaggerated when the player applies a significant attack, as the extra energy can overwhelm the pickup and result in audible signal compression.Ī preamped piezo signal sounds fine when plugged straight into a P.A. The output jack is generally housed in the strap endpin. ![]() Ultrathin Red Pickup Under-Saddle Passive Piezo Film Pickup Sticks for Acoustic Guitar without Plug. The piezo electric pickup is ubiquitous on acoustic-electric guitars. #Piezo picup plusPermanent installation is preferable for routine giggers, but that requires professional help and leaves you with a pickup blocking part of the soundhole, plus a heavier guitar. Temporary installation can be a clunky affair, and leaves a cable dangling from the soundhole. You put it in when you need it, and take it out when you don’t. Soundhole pickups are rarely pre-installed on a guitar. One of the primary benefits or drawbacks, depending on how you look at it, has to do with installation. Players who gig heavily like soundhole pickups because they’re practically bulletproof, and it’s a great idea to keep one in your gig bag. Others feel it lacks body and makes an acoustic sound like a cheap electric. Some players swear by the soundhole tone and appreciate how the attack starts softly and blossoms, almost like striking a match. They don’t capture soundboard vibrations, which are a huge factor in the hallmark of any acoustic instrument. Magnetic soundhole pickups usually add a distinct color to the sound. There was also rumors that the Elder Scrolls 6 could be set in Valenwood, the home of the Bosmer. It would certainly be nice to find out more about the culture of either the Khajit or the Argonians, so both of these settings have an understandable appeal to fans. That said, if we're just going by where might be interesting to explore, Elsweyr would also be a candidate with its dry plains and harsh badlands that the Khajit call home. It’s probably the region of Tamriel that we know the least about so Bethesda would have plenty of room to be creative. Black Marsh's swampy marshlands and network of islands would make for an interesting geographic change for the series, though it’s a geography that would leave itself open to comparison with the Witcher 3. Rumors online have previously heavily pointed towards Black Marsh, the home of the world’s reptilian Argonian race, but there wasn't actually any solid reason for this rumor. However, even though these areas are prime spots for exploration, that's not to say that Bethesda won't return to areas from previous games. Valenwood, Elsweyr, and Black Marsh are the biggest places left to explore. Previous games have taken us to High Rock, Hammerfell, Morrowind, Cyrodil, and Skyrim. We’re willing to bet that like all the other games in the series, The Elder Scrolls 6 will take place on the continent of Tamriel. Other than that, you might be waiting a while to see more. ![]() The only footage we have of Elder Scrolls 6 is a very short clip of the game's logo. What we do know, however, is that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE VS SKYRIM PS4Similarly, releases on Xbox One and PS4 seem extremely unlikely, as Starfield shows Bethesda's moving on from last-gen hardware. A PS5 release is much less certain, however, as Microsoft may opt to make the new Elder Scrolls game an Xbox exclusive. ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE VS SKYRIM SERIESSimilarly, platforms for The Elder Scrolls 6 haven't been confirmed yet but, given Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda's parent company ZeniMax Media, releases on PC, and Xbox Series S/X are almost a certainty. As such, tentatively expect The Elder Scrolls 6 to release in 2024 at the very earliest, after Bethesda has given Starfield at least a couple of years in the spotlight. In a more recent update, in June 2022, Howard told IGN (opens in new tab) that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still in "pre-production". Given Starfield is set to release in the first half of 2023 and Fable doesn't have a release date yet, the wait for Elder Scrolls 6 is set to be long.īethesda Games Studios director Todd Howard supported this in a 2021 interview with The Telegraph (opens in new tab), stating: "It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls 6 as still being in a design … but we’re checking the tech: 'Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?' Every game will have some new suites of technology so Elder Scrolls 6 will have some additions on to Creation Engine 2 that that game is going to require." Todd Howard said that the game will be coming after Starfield, the company's next big IP, while Xbox Head Phil Spencer has said it won't release until after Fable 4. We don't even have a subtitle or a release year. Don't hold your breath for The Elder Scrolls 6 release date – you won't be exploring its dungeons any time soon.ĭespite being announced at Bethesda's E3 2018 conference, little more than a logo was revealed and, four years later, we still have few solid details about the next Elder Scrolls game. ![]() |
